Bipolar IN Order Outcomes Study

Advancing Real-World Outcomes
in Bipolar and Depressive Conditions

Led by the Bipolar & Depression Outcomes Research Institute (BDORI)

The Bipolar IN Order Outcomes Study is designed to understand how individuals diagnosed with bipolar or depressive conditions can increase functionality, stability, and quality of life while living with their mood states rather than suppressing them.

This research focuses on real-world progress, including:

  • Improved daily functioning
  • Reduced crises and hospitalizations
  • Increased stability in preferred and non-preferred states
  • Better introspective accuracy
  • Greater comfort even during elevated or depressed mood states

Your participation will directly contribute to new evidence for more effective, user-centered approaches to mood condition management.

Who Can Apply

This study is open to individuals who:

  • Have a formal diagnosis of bipolar disorder or depression
  • Are actively seeking to improve their ability to function within their mood states
  • Are willing to engage with guided lessons, daily check-ins, and self-reflection
  • Can provide honest feedback about their experience and progress over time

Participants may be students, professionals, or anyone committed to improving how they live with their condition.

What Participation Involves

Participants in the study:

  • Complete the Bipolar IN Order program at no cost
  • Submit daily or regular check-ins on mood states, comfort zone, and behavior
  • Follow guided lessons at their own pace
  • Engage in self-reflection when prompted
  • Provide optional feedback for researchers
  • May be contacted for follow-up surveys or interviews

Your information will remain confidential within BDORI and the research team.

Study Incentive

Participants who complete the full one-year study will receive a $200 thank-you payment for contributing to this important outcomes research.

To qualify for the incentive, participants agree to:

  • Complete all lessons in the Bipolar IN Order program.
  • Lessons can be completed at each participant’s own pace.
  • Check in regularly throughout the year.

Check-ins take less than a minute. We encourage daily check-ins, but we understand that life gets in the way. To receive the study compensation, we require 8 check-ins per month. This provides flexibility while ensuring the steady data needed for high-quality research.
The incentive is paid at the end of the twelve-month study period.
Your participation helps us gather the real-world outcomes that funders, clinicians, and researchers need to advance more effective approaches to living well with bipolar and depressive conditions.
